Las Vegas? No – just the shiny lights of Niagara…

After a quick check-in to our room we set off in the rain to explore the bright lights of what could be described as a mini Vegas for kids… lots of neon lights, with arcades enticing you inside. It wasn’t long before the boys headed into their first experience – the House of Frankenstein - a haunted house and maze to be scared out of their wits by the live actors that ‘haunted’ the spooky halls. This was followed by a family visit to the Crystal Caves – a mirrored maze filled with reflected rainbows, moving images of ourselves and the dance inspiring sounds of music by Michael Jackson. It was actually very well done and quite difficult to navigate, in fact Khi and I only found the exit by adopting the strategy of running our hands along the left wall and following each turn this way and that until we found the ‘exit curtain’. We then went to watch some fudge being made as well as see the boy’s eyes bulge and tongues drool at the masses of candy on offer followed by a walk down to the falls to see them lit by the multi-coloured flood lights before we located a Ruby Tuesday for dinner. I decided that I would like a nice quiet night ‘in’ while the boys had a long and loud night out on the town exploring the Fun House, the Guinness World Records store, Bronto’s Adventure Playland and the Mystery Maze as well as another stop at a massive candy store to fill a tub each of sugary delights… My biggest excitement was a fireworks display that I could see from my room window!
