Niagara Falls

After a late night of sensory overload it was a late, lazy start which meant we very nearly missed breakfast and most certainly lost the opportunity for a dip in the pool as we had a big day ahead of us. First up was a walk through the park and richly scented rose garden, then across the street to the paved path that follows the top of the cliff edges that flank the river that the falls flow from and in to. The Canadian side of this natural wonder affords amazing views of the American Falls right up to the Horseshoe Falls. The closer you get to the Horseshoe Falls, the more wet you get as the wind and spray swirls up to greet you. It isn’t until you are right next to them, that you can appreciate the absolute power and sheer volume of water that surges across the falls. It really is spectacular with our photos not truly able to capture the immensity of this wonder. The boys did the ‘walk behind the falls’ tour and got suitably wet for their efforts. I managed to find a nice quiet corner to sip coffee and read as I had done this part of the experience on our last trip to Niagara. Our final ‘interaction with the falls’ was the 4D ‘Fury of the Falls’ experience which resulted in a significant drenching for all irrespective of the gorgeous blue disposable waterproof poncho’s you are issued.

Time to hit the road, crossing the bridge with one last look at the falls and then satisfying the US border guard that we were normal enough to allow entry (although he did raise an eyebrow and make a comment about the boys sitting in the backseat munching on cereal WITHOUT MILK?). At last, we were on our way to catch-up with the Zentner-Willick family… yeah!
